Our Farm History
Verrill Farm is operated as a partnership
between Stephen and Joan Verrill and daughter
Jennifer Verrill Faddoul. In 1982, after years of
planning and negotiations, we placed about 200
acres under a permanent Agricultural Preservation
Restriction, thus preventing development of this
land. One hundred forty acres of the farm are in
vegetable production with a wide variety ranging
from asparagus to zucchini, with specialties being
heirloom tomatoes and sweet corn. Our primary
market is our farmstand at 11 Wheeler Rd.
The building has many green features including a
rooftop solar array, recycled heat from the refrigeration
system, automated lighting and natural light.
The kitchen/bakery/deli provides fresh, home-
style foods and baked goods with extensive use
of our own produce. Baked goods, soups, made-
to-order sandwiches and entrees to take home are
customer favorites. We strive to offer a fine selection
of locally produced foods and products. Please buy
local—we do!

At 23 Walden Street, a bright red door marks the
location of one the oldest antiques shops in town.
Upstairs Antiques has been a favorite hunting
ground for antique collectors, dealers, decorators
and homeowners for almost 20 years.
The second floor shop features four rooms filled
with an eye-popping array of affordable antiques,
art, nostalgic collectibles, vintage home accessories
and unique gifts. Twelve antique dealers combine
their distinctive styles and expertise to offer a wide
selection of ever-changing merchandise.
Our shop features a wide selection of costume
and fine estate jewelry, sterling silver, furniture,
art, antiquarian books/ephemera, 19th c. English
transfer ware, antique lamps, rare Victoriana, fine
art pottery, country/garden accents, textiles/linens,
miniatures, doll house furniture, antique engravings
and collectibles.
A rare 1860 cash register sitting on the counter
gives the shop an old fashioned feeling. And just
like the “good old days”, the staff knows its
customers and their interests. A “wish book” tracks
requests and customers are contacted when new
merchandise arrives. The shop is always interested
in buying or consigning quality antiques.
Upstairs Antiques plays an active role in town
events, working closely with local groups to preserve
and protect the unique character of Concord’s
villages for future generations.

The West Concord 5 & 10 is one of the last
remaining old-fashioned general stores left around.
We opened our doors in 1934 and were purchased
in 1951 by John Forbes, who moved the store across
the street to its current location in 1953. The store
continues to be owned by the Forbes family, now in
a third generation.
We still have a little bit of everything, including
a few things you may have never heard of—from
hardware to sewing supplies, to an aisle full of
kitchen gadgets, to more toys than a busload of kids
can play with at a time. Come on in and explore! We
tend to cram things in every-which-way, so you never
know what you might find that you always needed.
And watch out for screaming flying monkeys or
those little parachute men; you never know what we
might be playing with at any given time.
